An artist development programme
Alibi Supports is a new scheme that aims to provide exciting and much-needed development opportunities for Devon based theatre makers. Each year, we’ll offer either one or two places on the scheme. As experienced theatre producers ourselves, we are keen to share the knowledge, skills and resources that we have.
What do we offer?
We’re able to offer support to early or mid-career individuals or groups.
The support is available over a period of three months to work on a specific theatrical performance project. The first Alibi Supports scheme will run from October – December 2019.
No group or artist is the same, so our offer is tailor-made to suit each group or individual and project. These are some examples of the things we can offer:
A total of 3 weeks use of our Rehearsal Studio or Workshop free of charge
Our time (up to 1 week). This might include:
- Advice from our Artistic Director. Or else she can be a sounding board or outside eye
- Advice/training from our Administrative & Financial Director – on budgeting, funding applications, contracts etc
- Advice from our Producer – on tour booking, project management etc
- Advice from our Marketing & Development Manager- on selling to audiences and fundraising
- Advice from our Production Manager on technical issues
Lending of selected technical equipment
Lending of selected costumes
Lending of selected props/furniture
Use of our Rehearsal Studio for an informal scratch performance
Use of selected office facilities (eg use of the printer for scripts etc)
Publicity via our social media etc
Tickets to our shows (one per person)
Who Can Apply?
Any Devon based early to mid-career theatre makers. We’re looking to support makers who are highly ambitious and show exciting potential with regard to the work they are making, how they are making it and who they are making it for. And we’re looking for people who have a clear sense of how the scheme may be of benefit to them.
We welcome applications from everyone and are particularly keen to meet people from groups that are traditionally under-represented in the arts.
