Leap Then Look

By Alibi

Play Interact Explore is a tactile exhibition by artists Leap Then Look inviting people of all ages to play, collaborate and experiment.

Filled with things to explore and discover, everything in the space is designed to be rearranged and interacted with—from large tactile objects to soft and colourful assemblages. Build sculptures, make big and small creations, roll things about and play as much as you like!

Bring curious minds and set your creativity free as you experiment and explore this welcoming environment full of possibilities.

Leap Then Look is suitable for all ages, and we have designed a variety of sessions which we hope will suit everyone. The installation will be open daily, with off-peak sessions after school on Thursdays and Fridays during term-time. Follow the link to book tickets: here.

Our Early Years Mornings are perfect for little ones to explore at their own pace. Kids go free, and one Adult pass will allow entry for repeat visits!

The exhibition will be a relaxed environment where everyone can move freely, but if you or the young person in your life would like a bit more room to explore, check out our Reduced Capacity Sessions.

If you are a Home Educating family and would like to use the space to support learning around art, design, technology or play and story-building activities, you’d be very welcome to attend our Home Ed Sessions.

We’ll have a café serving hot drinks and delicious snacks – we take our coffee seriously— expect nothing less than excellent brews at Alibi.

Please note, there is no parking at Alibi. If you are driving, please use the public car park on Okehampton Street.

If you require Blue Badge parking, please contact access@theatrealibi.co.uk and we will be able to reserve a spot for you on site. Please get in touch if you have any other questions around access.

We are located 0.7 miles from Exeter city centre and our closest bus stop is 0.3 miles away, at Exe Bridges.

There is no public parking at Alibi. To avoid disturbing our neighbours please don’t drive down Emmanuel Road – there’s very little space and it’s hard to turn around!

Our closest pay and display car park is 0.2 miles away on Okehampton Street, and costs £2 for 2 hours parking and £3 for 3 hours. If you require Blue Badge parking, please contact access@theatrealibi.co.uk and we will do our best to reserve a spot for you on site.

Yes! We have an outdoor buggy shed located at the back of the building.

To help you know what to expect when you’re with us, our events are grouped into a few simple categories. Leap Then Look is an EXPLORE event, which are generally self-guided exhibits or experiences, where all children need to be accompanied by a grown up.

Leap Then Look is not a show or performance – it’s an interactive space designed especially for children and young people to play, create, and explore at their own pace. Families can move around freely, touch, build, and interact with everything.

To give you a sense of the space and what to expect when you arrive, this short film with artist Bill Cran offers a narrated walkthrough of the exhibition, guiding you through each area and its story.

You can download a visual story – a guide with words and pictures – for the Leap Then Look exhibition here.

No – all children must be accompanied by a grown-up.

Yes, access to Leap Then Look is step-free and fully wheelchair accessible.

All sessions are relaxed and child-led, with no sudden sounds or loud music. We also offer reduced-capacity sessions for those who’d like a little more space to explore.

We aim to create an inclusive, welcoming space. If you have specific access needs or sensory requirements, feel free to get in touch in advance so we can support your visit: access@theatrealibi.co.uk
