Poetry Writing Workshop

By Alibi & Bookbag

Our friends at Bookbag are joining us for some very special poetry sessions with local poet Sirisha Damarla

Writing Poetry Workshop with Sirisha Damarla

Poet Sirisha Damarla, host of Bookbag’s Open Mic Night, leads a creative session for emerging young poets and anyone curious about poetry or creative writing.

This workshop welcomes young people of various experience levels, from complete beginners who have never written a poem to occasional and seasoned writers.

Free your creativity! Play a word‑listing game, noting down words connected to a range of themes.
Choose your theme! Select one theme and create a word map of ideas and images linked to it.
Shape your poem! Use your word map to craft a poem, experimenting with structure, rhythm, and imagery.

By the end of the session, everyone will have created a poem and had the opportunity to share it with the group.

Grown ups, this is a drop-off workshop so you’re welcome to relax in our café with a coffee, or step out and return at the end of the workshop.
