The Story Garden is vast, but takes up no space whatsoever. How can that be? Because it’s in our imaginations, as well as anywhere we gather to share stories. And today, the Alibi Story Gardener has come to visit, bringing their wheelbarrow full of fun!
For EYFS (age 3+): A 20 minute session for up to 15 children
The Alibi Facilitator, in role as the Story Gardener, welcomes the children into the Story Garden with a song and some exploration of the garden (seasonally themed). The main body of the session is then an interactive reading of a picture book, brought to life with props, songs and actions. We have a selection of different picture books on different themes that you can choose from, or if there is a particular book you would be interested in us presenting, let us know and we’ll see what might be possible. The session ends with a moment for the whole group to reflect together and then a closing song. A very gentle way to enrich children’s imaginative play.
For KS1: 30-40 minute session for one class (max 30 children)
As described above, the facilitator is in role as the Story Gardener and the main focus of the session is on reading a story in an interactive and dynamic way. The extended time allows for more discussion around the book and its themes, and / or the seasonal specifics of the garden, allowing an excellent opportunity for the class to practice oracy learning objectives that link to current curriculum topics.
We’re more than happy to discuss what would suit your class best, especially with Reception and Year 1 classes if they might prefer the longer or shorter version.
