Steps for teachers
i.e How to accept delivery of The Parcel
We’re so pleased to be coming to your school with The Parcel. In order to help keep the show a special surprise for the children, we are asking teachers to help us in a couple of ways:
BEFORE LEAVING THE CLASSROOM TO SEE THE PARCEL
Please can you tell your class that a large parcel has been delivered to the school for them. You have no idea what is in it! You are going to the hall together to open it.
PLEASE KEEP THE FACT THAT THIS A THEATRE PIECE A SECRET!
AT THE HALL
A ‘Courier’ (our Stage Manager!) will meet you and your class at the hall, where The Parcel has been delivered. Please wait for them by the hall doors until they come to let your class in.
Once the children are sat and ready to see the parcel opened, the Courier will ask one teacher to sign for the delivery.
If that is you, AFTER YOU HAVE SIGNED, COULD YOU ASK THE CHILDREN TO WAIT QUIETLY WHILE YOU FIND SOMETHING TO OPEN IT WITH.
Before you have got very far, some unusual noises will start to come from the package! Then you can take your seat to see what unfolds!
It would be wonderful if you could pretend that you are as surprised as the children by what is inside the parcel.
The performance will last for around 45 minutes.
Please don’t feel that you need to keep the children quiet during the performance – the show is interactive and the children’s responses are welcome!
