Mama Tokus

Picnic in the Pleasure Ground hosted by St Thomas Community Garden and Maka Tokus

Bring rugs, deckchairs and your lunch to a wonderful event beside St Thomas Community Garden featuring stories, music, art and rhymes inspired by the park, its plants, the people and even the pets passing by!

Performer Mama Tokus will host the picnic, which runs from 12noon to 2pm on Sunday July 10. There will be snippets of song and story as well as plenty of time to chat, eat or simply relax in this beautiful green space.

St Thomas Community Gardeners will be there to talk about their work and answer questions too. Plus there may be some special guests too.

The picnic is suitable for kids.

The event is FREE and is part of the Festival of St Thomas Stories.

Mama Tokus is a singer, comic poet & MC, performing funny songs and rhymes. She is based in the Deep South West and is inspired by soul, blues, gospel and funk in both her music and her words. She has performed in the UK and the USA and is the creator of The Get-Together – a soulful show that brings communities together with food and music.

“A hybrid of cabaret, R&B, blues,funk and fun…Brilliant.”
